Nice. Double set triggers; good stuff. I love the late season. I lost my flinter in a divorce a few years ago and haven't bought a new one yet. I've been more interested in goose lately. You should PM me your general area of PA; If you're not too far maybe we could meet up for a grouse or rabbit hunt or something.

When you talk about lead for a ball mold - make sure it's soft lead and not an alloy like wheelweights or linotype.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Got that right. Probably need a mold that is a bit smaller than the bore size too. Hard to patch a ball that is the same size as the bore.

Mine's a .40 cal and I shoot .395cal balls with lubed mattress ticking that mics out to .010. My rifle doesn't need a ball starter that way. I can use the ram rod.

I can shoot mine about 50 times before it gets draggy and needs the bore wiped.

Nightblade, that rifle was built in 1981 by "Bill" Mowery. He took the TX Muzzleloading Rifle Ass'n match for that cal and style with it two years running. I beat him out of it on a trade for a Remington-Hepburn in 38-55.

I won a lot of matches with it at the various buckskinner doin's and a pretty good chunk of change over the years shooting for money. It'll tie 'em all in one ragged hole at 50 yds if you're good enough to hold it.

Recoil is pretty much unnoticeable and burning 50gr of FFF powder, it's pretty economical to shoot.

Have yet to get a deer with it, but have killed several turkeys and squirrel with it.

TX had a .45 cal restriction for front loaders. I haven't checked the regs lately, that may have changed. There is no doubt in my mind that that rifle will humanely kill a deer as it will put a pure lead ball 10 inches into a telephone pole at 40 yards.

Back when I messed with it a lot, I could shoot 2 rounds a minute and every now and then 3 if everything clicked just right.

When I get some time I will get some good pictures of my four babies.

I have a Ketland Trade Pistol, a C. J. S. Perry's of London, and a Queen Anne turn off barrel all replicas in 0.58.
    I also have a 0.75 18" barrel knee gun/blunderbuss.
All of which are firing condition.

Shaving with facial hair is like a golfcourse. It's a challenge of rough and fairways. You are the skilled greenskeeper of your face?

    Default first rock crusher

was begun last year. may finish it this year.

Curly Maple blank from west TN. English style lock, roller, Curtis design, Colerain swamped 54x42". double set triggers (pre-made I forgot who just now).

Going to extend the tang and mount all iron some cast pieces, might make a few. BBL channel is finished, ramrod hole drilled, inletting lock now. experimenting with coloration-dyes so far, aqua fortis is always an option, haven't tested the wood yet to see what color will be produced.

pics when i make more progress.

Will be TN/Southern style. 54 because i hunt deer mostly-but some picky snickies wrinkle their noses over that. Next I'll probably do a 40, fine for a nice close, clear, shot on deer, and excellent for all smaller critters, and targets.

then a jaeger or smooth...a pistol or two, it's addictive. once i get the 54 sorted out (load-wise and sight regulation) I doubt I'll hunt with smokeless any more (much). I load/smith smokeless too-always have. I've already "regressed" my short-arm collection to nothing but single-actions.
