Heat treat done on blade #2
had to play with my torch a bit to get the heat even
brought the blade up to a bright red/orange/non-magnetic
    quenched in peanut oil
no flare no warping nice and clean
I couldn't get the tail up to heat in my forge though... Too small
I'll do the other blade tomorrow

Does it skate a file? Don't forget this blade will need to be tempered yet.

I'm working out of two locations, I have to take it over to my dads house to borrow a file...
I'll check it later today, and temper it...
Planning on tempering the first blade later as well

File skates across, so far so good...
I also did my heat treat on the first blade, also good.
I need to temper the blades and then I'm down to the finish work

Lots of sanding and polishing by hand...
It's not a mirror finish, but a very shiny satin....

Awesome project! Thanks so much for sharing so much about your process as well.

Three deaths in the family, finished my degree and got my RN license, got married moved twice, and my first son is expected in about two months
    Hopefully I can stay back.

As for sharing, isn't that what were all about?
