I'm hoping to be able to work on them some this weekend. Life has been pretty hectic of late though and other work is taking priority. I plan on doing one at home and then taking two more blanks up to my buddy's house to grind on his proper belt grinder and heat treat in his forge.

What Happened Next?
I know it's been a long time since this thread was active, and I just found it. but, WHAT HAPPENED NEXT? I feel like I paid $50 for a play and the actors walked out after the second act. I've been wanting to build my own razor and this was filled with usefull info, but what I needed to know most is what is missing.

Funnily enough,
I just started working on Daves blank.
My first attempt at vine and leaf spine decoration, I think it turned out ok.
You never know when making a razor, you can screw up at any time.
I'm happy to post pictures of my progress, slow though it is, if there is enough interest.

Thanked: 995This is a great long thread. Here's one answer for as far as I've waded through.
Deckard: I believe these folks are in "your neighborhood", well okay, in the UK. Which would be a lot better for getting parts and service than the US. They would be what I would consider the gold standard for quality equipment. They don't mention outright a knifemaker's oven, but Paragon does make that size. For razors you don't need much more internal surface than say 6 inches regardless. That would also be a lot less quid.
