I'm glad that you pulled through, hipsley! Now just take things one step at a time; job #1 is recovery and rehabilitation.

In the big scheme of things, shaving should be way down on your list of priorities. The shakiness should pass... just give it time. And while your concerns about the blood thinners are understandable, they may not be all that big of a deal; it depends on which medication you're on. Some have relatively little effect on minor cuts and scrapes, while others can lead to bleeding like a stuck pig after even minor booboos. So the bottom line is that this is a question to ask your doc.

When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It's difficult only for the others.
It's the same when you are stupid.

You pulled thru it, that is all that counts now.
In time, hopefully you can use straights again.
For now though, smile and enjoy every day.
They are a bonus of sorts after stuff like that, who cares about a little 5 o'clock shadow?

I have too have 2 more stents fitted and need a shave before I go. I own straights and de's and I would never let my appearance down heart attack or not. Thanks for your post and yes shaving perhaps isn't a priority but I look and feel like crap and a shave might make me feel like me again. Doctors know their stuff about hearts and shaving would not be on their list of things to talk about. You guys are. And I feel like my post and all the replies has given me a bit more hope that I'm not the only one out there. I don't know anyone in my personal life who has had a heart attack and lived. So a bit daunting for me.

Have been for the past 9 years. Never gave up using a straight. A dinky cut or nick while shaving isn't gonna cause you to bleed out. Only thing the blood thinner regimine really had an affect on with me is it kept me from going to Kurdistan...not a bad thing in retrospect.

No worries, you will do fine. Key thing to remember though...this is a shave forum. Defer to your doctor's advice.
Doctors do the fixing up and talking to a specialist about shaving seems trivial you guys know your stuff and from all your posts I'm not the only one out there this is by far the best shave forum out there. My doctors advice is don't have another heart attack ha ha

Well, I'm a doctor and I shave with straights. So I'm at least one person here who can talk about both subjects.

I'm retired US Navy, so direct comparison to the civilian sector isn't exact. Practically speaking, I'm a generalist, but my boards are in Preventive/Aerospace Medicine.

    Does that help?

Getting 2 more stents installed should be no big deal. I have had 5 installed.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
