Wish I had seen your post in December of 2006. Would have saved me two divorces.

I limit myself to less than $100 a month out of my household budget on blades and related items. If I sell something, then that money goes straight into the buy a new toy fund

Me I usually start the month off by saying these wise words to my Wife darling I'm definitely not going to buy anymore razors, my Wife nods in agreement as she utters these words of course not dear you are definitely not going to buy anymore razors, then I see a NOS highly desirable Japanese razor well what did you expect it's not my fault.

Do I, No. Should I, Yes.
The bain of my life is that Shave Gear Raffle group over on Facebook. It's like a drug I tell you!
Although this morning I was doing a bit of introspection and telling myself, that I actually have enough and will only in future bid on something I truly covet. So far so good!Tony

Regarding this topic and especially what wives/Girlfriends think. When I recently bought my first straight razor setup se just laughed and shook her head. She doesn't get it lol. I thought she might considering I shoot rifles and pistols a lot in competitions and also have a selection of knifes (folders, bushcraft). You guys get the same weird looks/comments?

No budget here!
I'm retired too and the way I look at it now is....Whoever dies with the most toys wins!!!
I can tell you that the "shaving budget" is trying to compete with the "gun budget" and its tough to tell who is winning!
Remember the words in the old nursery rhyme...."Life is but a dream"

Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret ANYTHING
That makes you smile." - Mark Twain

Not really. Anything razor related is a business cost for me. As long as my business isn't costing us any money, my wife doesn't mind what I do. Last year, my year profit before taxes was approximately 75 euro.
