I've gotten a few responses like that. I find it to be hilarious though. According to one female friend it's "insane" but the cool kind of insane she said.
One of the girls that's interested in me pleaded with me to abandon straight razor shaving.
Most of my other friends just think it's interesting since it's something really old school that they've never even heard of before. I'm glad I keep my stuff hidden though. Some of my friends would start screwin with it and either fillet themselves or break my edge.Last edited by Vekta; 06-26-2009 at 03:43 AM.

Yep, its wierd. When I tell people I str8 shave they give me a look of "Are you crazy?" and I reply "Yup"! Sometimes at antique shps where they dont know me,when they hand me the str8 I want to check out,They hand it over and step back.

Thanked: 6If it freaked her out and she tells people that "Oh my god! He shaves with a straight razor!" and she ditches you, it at least sounds way cooler than if you ran her off by farting or something like that. I think she was just genuinely surprised, and only knows about straight razors from Sweeny Todd and stuff like that. She said she'll be back, so take that as a good sign and roll with it. If she bails over something silly like that, forget her anyway. Just be sure to hook up with one of her friends if that happens to be the case. I would imagine you have nothing to worry about, so just wait and see what happens. Maybe she'll be amazed by it and use a straight razor herself?

Thanked: 317I'd be more worried about one of my buddies damaging a razor than filleting themselves.
I figures, somebody sees a straight razor they don't own, picks it up without permission, opens it without permission, and proceeds to do something stupid and cuts themselves, I figure they've got it coming.
Somebody chips a blade on the other hand.....
