Thanked: 234Classic cars and bikes I have messed about with, I have a mechanical watch. Fishing I guess (although, to be honest that's more of an excuse to get away for a week, do very little and drink a lot of cooled alcoholic beverages).
I also enjoy vinyl records on a semi-regular basis.

outside of straights my other hobbies that would be considered old time are: using fountain pens, collecting antiques, and ham radio. My collection of antiques range from a full size iron bed to a working Stewart Warner floor radio from the mid to late 40's, to several kerosene lamps (two of which were used in rail road passenger cars). My ham radio rig isn't too old, it's from the late 70's.

I still hunt with a fine Lancaster county long rifle, wear a victorian vest and fob watch, with a fine frock coat in the winter. I won't go on, but you are quite right lots of people here seem interested in the old arts and skills, and are a great resourse for sorts of advice on a broad range of historical subjects
Cheers

Ahh a little blood letting ...... and not just from the shaving I see lol.
I don't have an old hobby, but I do have a weird one, I've been keeping a coral reef for over six years, hard sps corals, looks like a mini forest of colored sticks.... It takes a lot of planning to get it all automated like I have it's 120g and cost a small fortune ( roughly 4k)
cheers

I was just kidding about the leeches.
But I own a lot of antiques, aside from the razors. The high-backed navy leather swivel office chair I'm sitting in (with hundreds of brass studs along the back and oak arms) is from 1912. My dresser beside me is from England, circa 1880, old brass lamps are about the room also.
Yeah, and I've got hundreds of vinyl records. Listening to Thriller right now, in fact.Last edited by Blade Wielder; 07-05-2009 at 02:47 AM.

I study history. My favorite periods are the American Revolution and Civil War. Also, Irish history from any period. I have friends who are into historical re-enactment. I don't participate but I enjoy photographing them.
