WOW
I'm 53 been shaving with a straight for about a year. Started out with DE used them for years until the hype of Gillette cartriges came along. Migrated back to DE then on to STR8. Its nice to know that there is interest with the younger crowd. I thought it was a bunch of older gents. Now if I could get my 30 year old son into it, he could use a good shave.

One month into it
I am 48. Str8 for a month now. It is something I've been talking about for awhile. Finally jumped in. I have 2 new, and about 20 vintage. I plan on restoring them all and using them.
I like the Zen of the shave routine, and knowing that I can control such a deadly weapon around vital arteries... It really takes people by surprise when they find out. I guess I like people thinking I am a little bit crazy...

Just turned 32 this month, and picked up my first straight razor this past summer. I've been thinking for the longest time that the average age of SRP members skewed older, it's nice to see that I may have been wrong.
Not sure what made me want to start shaving with a straight razor, it was likely a combination of general thoughts and ideas. I was certainly sick of spending the dough on disposable cartridges that irritated the heck out of my neck, but I also wanted a more masculine morning ritual to start the day off with.
Now that I've been at this, I know I'm saving money in the long run (despite my accute RAD), doing my skin a favor, and getting that valuable moment of zen every morning that I didn't even realize I was missing.
Onward,
Chad

How nice to be on the threshold of a lifetime of shaving and able to enjoy so many different choices regarding every aspect of our "hobby." I wish you a lifetime of rewarding shaving experiences.
I'm 64, and "back in the day" we had many fewer choices. But, perhaps that was an advantage because it made things much simpler.

Thanked: 16I'm 57 and been enjoying the way of shaving for the past 4 years. My friends are just astounded when they look in the bathroom and see I actually use more counter space then my wife.
