Thanked: 98So your OK. To be insensitive...is the shave cream ready for trying? The story is good but the result may be more exciting.
I am kidding of course.

I'm curious if you have considered a line that would also cater toward ladies? My wife loved an iced pineapple soap from a vendor and wants me to find another to try for the summer.

Thanked: 315I missed your updates in this thread! Glad things are coming along. Cabinets are expensive. It was going to cost us $500-1000 to get cabinets put in our office breakroom. I found a 6ft cabinet/counter for free. One end needs finish/paint since it was originally next to another caninet, but it is in great condition.
I'll be placing my order soon so keep an eye out.
There is a lady's gifts section in her store, so I figured she has plans for women's soaps/perfumes.- Joshua

Not insensitive at all !! and yes, I'm fine. As my mentor always says, "Did you learn anything?" me?....oh yea, lol. I've had to order another small batch of Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) and I think it shows up tomorrow. After that lye solution calmed down I considered pouring it into the oils just to see what would happen, but didn't. Figuring no point in wasting the oils/stearic acid.
From the time I make the shaving cream until it's ready will be 10 - 14 days. So we're looking at the first week of June if all goes well In the meantime I've been blending a few scents. I'm just ready for something new!
Any suggestions for summer scents ?

I know enough to be dangerous lol. Actually I spend hours and hours studying ingredients, but in the end when it comes to switching out ingredients from 80 years ago to today's ingredient list, I only have an educated guess about what will happen next. I can tell you, that the other day was my first EV-errrr spill like that, and If I decide to try again I might take it outside first lol.
It makes me have such a crazy appreciation for naturalists, scientists, explorers etc. I do imagine that back in the day that small explosions in the lab weren't all that uncommon. How exciting!!!

Tis true! on both account Many women like the Gentlemen's Oak & Moss, Orange Patchouli, Provence and Savon de Campagne bath soaps. I know a lady who keeps several bars of Gentlemen's Oak & Moss in her clothing drawers, and linen closets. I was like.....that's really smart! Keeping all of her clothing, towels, bed sheets smelling divine, whilst storing her soaps in cool, dry areas.
I have one fella, who keeps a bar of soap under his front car seat. He says it's the best air freshner he's ever had.
So yes, I do sell some of what I already have to women in the bath soaps line, I make bath bombs every now and then.......but perfume, yes.....that's always a work in progress. So while we're waiting on the KOH to get here, I've been busy picking flowers for tincturing for use in either men's or women's perfume, just depends on what things end up smelling like.
I really enjoy this part of perfuming. I like doing things the old way, and I know that's not always popular with everyone, because we live in a "I want it, and I want it now" society. But I tell you.......in my house, every morning is like Christmas lol.....I run downstairs with coffee in hand to see what things smell like today.
Oftentimes it's a disappointment, but every now then.....magic happens

My full face shield came today. After that first batch went south I decided I could use one lol. Since then I've made two more batches of my original shaving cream, but it's taking longer to cook than it should?? I'm still having to full around with the right cooking temperature. I know a lot of folks use a crockpot these days but I still use a water bath for mine. I figure another batch or two and I'll get the kinks worked out.

Woah! Careful!
Remember rule number 6 in the Pyros' Handbook:
"More stuff is flammable than one would assume, especially when mixed and heated."
Okay I made that up, but it's twue!
I missed updates on this thread, was busy.
Glad things are coming along, very interested in it all. As far as smell suggestions, I'll get back to you on that.
Still looking for a great refreshing toner spray. Something like a rose water that is ph balanced and all that good stuff.
Good luck in the laboratory Madame! Nice mask!“You must unlearn what you have learned.”
