I had fun at the meet it was good to put faces with screen names and meet new people. Glen is a great demonstrator. I like watching talented people hone, I learn something every time.

Thanked: 5Great to meet all of you guys; best afternoon I've had in a long time.
For those of you seeking an "all-purpose emergency high precision optical band razor edge test and evaluation device", for those occasions when the Mark I eyeball is simply inadequate to the task at hand, this is the one I bought. If you do a search on e-Bay for "LED magnifier 40x" you will find the very same thing from $3.00 to north of $10.00. I can only report my experience with the $5.00 model, which you have seen, and which seems perfectly adequate to me. I am very suspicious that the $3.00 model may be quality deficient. If you are a perfectionist, you may find that paying $10.00 gives you the assurance that you have purchased the very finest $5.00 magnifier available....

Great get-together guys! I even managed to learn something watching a few guys hone their blades. Never too old (or jaded) to pick up a few new ideas! Also managed to trade some things which is always a real kick. Anyway thanks to Glen for helping everyone and answering loads of questions, and thanks to the participants for bringing up things that I hadn't thought about much in quite some time.
Unless I can convince my wife that we need to move to Maui, I'll be at the meet up next year as well. Thanks all!

Thanked: 0I can only second the above comments, amazing meet-up. Learned a lot. Thanks to Glen for using my razor for one of the honing demos. Can't wait to try it out as I begin my straight razor journey. Was a great afternoon and fun meeting everyone.

Thanked: 1160Wow ! ...What a great time we had. I came back this year with a head swimming full of information, Thanks to Glen and all the fellas. This meet up was yet another perfect example of the type of camaraderie that SRP has to offer. And .....also a big thanks to the staff and especially our waitress at the Garlic Knot who took such wonderful care of us. I would highly encourage new members all over to attend these meet ups when possible. Cheers guys. Attachment 173612

I'm so glad that the meet went well As posted Glen is a Wonderful Teacher! I've only been able to make one Spokane Meet but I learned so much in those few hours! To be able to see the honing/chip removal demonstrations etc first hand and be able to ask Glen to stop and either explain or show the answer to my question was marvelous! I thought that I was getting good edges but once I applied what I'd learned I found that my edges were at least 100% better.
I've posted time and time again and will keep on posting that if a newbie or a veteran member can make it to a meet it is well worth their time/especially the newbie's as they will learn more in a few hours than they could in months and months of reading and watching videos!!
Glen; Bravo for making the trip once again For once I'd like the weather Gods to bless you with better passage!
I hope someone will put names to the faces. It would be like frosting on a cake. The cake is good but the frosting makes it betterOur house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.
