Thanks to everyone who came and special thanks to Dave and Bonnie for putting on a really great meet. Well worth the >2000 miles of driving. Hope to make the next one.

If I knew you was going Vic, I might have been able to split the cost and help drive. Oh Well, Maybe next time.

Thanks all for the pics. Nice to see some faces. Not like I'll remember them but at least I now got an idea. Bunch of old white guys. Hey, I fit in that group too. Ha. Is this a racial forum or is it just the old white guys are the only ones crazy enough to do this hobby?

Some 'one on one' with a good stone and a person who knows how to use it would clear this up.

I bought this soap at a garage sale. Supposedly, it was made in the 60s by a lady who had made it her entire life.

Tim took the lead but showed foresight by trying it out on his arm before going to his face. The lather looked rather creamy and slightly yellow. While not a Martin de Candre, the Lye soap does seem to coat the skin.

Tim did not experience any razor or soap burn. I was a bit surprised. I thought the Lye Soap would be a major irritant.

Thanks to Tim and Ron for being brave.

There was a bit of a nick but it was caused by the strobe on the camera. Not Tim's fault.
Not bad lather for being made in the garage dribbling water out of a bottle on to the bar.

It worked OK but I would put it into low second tier as far as shaving.

The nick was from the square point I used.

If it was in my rotation I would mute it for sure!

I am still trying to digest everything from the meet.

So many discussions about many various things. I know I was with a bunch of enthusiasts but it amazed me at some of the ways conversation went related to shaving. Along with geology and metallurgy I had conversations about magnetism and gun cotton just to name a few.

Then if we get into the ones that were not shaving related everything from cellular research to postal sorting machines.

I think that you would fit right in. An eclectic group for sure!

Anyone thinking about coming to one of these meets shouldn't worry about being different. Everyone there is different and I have been pleasantly surprised at the acceptance of our differences by everyone there.

Hahahaha that's some funny shit. But to be fair, they are not all white. But I get what you're saying. I honestly think it may be a more white predominant hobby to be honest. And to be clear because no one really knows me, I am not in the least bit racist.. grew up loving rap(don't give me too much crap there) and the culture and have a native wife and children. I accept all people and cultures for who and what they are. But I am still a young buck compared to alot of you chums, I'm only 30. I would love to be able to attend a couple get together at one point in time. If the future even foresees it, I would love to be in the position to bring some of you fine gents together and be the host. It is something I would love to do. Entertain you all, grow some friendships and knowledge and have a bit of male comradery. You all seem like fine gents.

I think that the reason that many of us that participate in meets like this are older is because we can.

20 years ago it would have been very hard for me.

I took Friday off and I have plenty of vacation time to be able to do that.

Family commitments played a role in my attending but I worked around them.

If you are close and only can show up for 1/2 hour,
