there aint nothing practical forging or stock removal,, by the time you invest the time and money you can buy all the custom razors you want. that being said its fun. but just to have a razor, I can get better than I can make for a lot less than the initial investment. heck the grinder I,m getting is 2800$,not to mention all the accessories and belts, anvils, hammers, and tempering equipment, band saws, drill press, bits and beer cooler. a forge, who knows, propane to get some experience. I could go on and on, but you get the idea, its a hobby nothing practical about it

I agree on all points. I was assuming we took all common sense out of it. With that line of thinking I would of bought 2-3 blades and just send out for honing. I have a “problem” I can mostly afford and luckily a line of work and other hobbies that at least a belt grinder could make me some money. The forge? Still trying to justify that one.

The practical way, for me, is to come to Charlie's meet once a year and do the forging and stock removal there.

    Aha
What are you buying? The same one as Dave?

Can't wait for pictures seeing this crew in action. Please post some if possible/legal. I understand some may be in the witness protection program.
