My wood lathe is a simple set up, it does not have a chuck. When I make shaving brush handles I make a jam chuck like in this video.
This is how I make handles with the tools that I have.

I have some questions about adjusting loft height. I started a new thread in brushes so that the rest of the membership could benefit. https://sharprazorpalace.com/brushma...ml#post1861306

If I wanted my shaving mug cold I would just put it out on the porch this time of year.

Many a year ago the guy (Rick) who was my Produce Manager and direct supervisor was telling about how one winter a buddy of his asked him if he'd like to go with him to their cabin in the mountains for a few days. He said he'd love to as he did quite a bit of tent camping.
Well there was a ton of snow but the friend had a snowmobile with a sled to tow behind so they loaded everything up (including lots of beer) and headed to the cabin. Rick said that the snow was so deep that they had to enter through an upstairs window. Once they had all of the supplies inside the friend started a fire in the wood heating stove and the wood cook stove and told Rick that they needed to get the beer and perishables in the refrigerator.
Rick looked around and saw a refrigerator but the friend walked to one of the outer doors, opened it to display a wall of snow and started stuffing beers into it. At one of the other doors he cut out an opening to put the perishables in and then saved the snow to melt for drinking and cooking water.
Rick was Impressed. Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.
