Thread: Carolina & SE states Gathering

I know this is a strange request, but...

I'm a newbie. I'm also an idiot. And that makes life hard. Especially learning all the basic tricks to straight shaving. So if I bring my own razor, strop, and shaving accessories on Saturday, would anyone mind watching me shave? Maybe offer a few pointers along the way? (I'm sure there is a public restroom with sink and mirror.)

Me too, me too!

The church will surely have a decent restroom, but it may be best to do it at a hotel where you can be right out of the shower? As long as there's hot water I guess it doesn't matter. I would certainly like to be around as you are offered pointers, I am having some shaving issues that I haven't overcome yet. And if nothing else, we can help each other and share tips

The church is right across from my house so there is a bathroom at my place but its small. also there is probably one at the church and some of the guys are staying in hotels so I am sure we can find someplace for you to get a lesson.

I think mabye we ought to try and set aside a little time for a basic class on honing, stropping and shaving? Doc do we have some place we can fit that in?

all ready have a demo for honeing and lather building on SAT IF YOU OR LYNN WOULD LIKE TO DO ONE ONE SHAVING AND STROPPING THAT WOULD BE GREAT

How about we have Lynn do that, and I'll do a short primer on programming for anyone that's interested. I think that would be playing to our strenghts

Awesome! I'm sure the church restroom is fine. Especially if it's a double sink with extra long mirror. Enough room for all the spectators. To laugh at me. =)

i dont want to sound stupid but im sure with enough hot water and towels we could come up with something...i use shaving oil under my later and find that really helps with the glide, depending what soap Im using, pity no-one has a mobile barbers chair...lol...im sure the more experienced would easily help you.

I agree. I was thinking the hot water and towel trick too. (Instead of a hotel shower.)

I was forced to put off a shave after a shower a while back but had good results within about thirty minutes of a shower by washing my face pretty well with hot water and then going to the 5 minute hot towel. I bet we can get this done! I am totally grinning like an idiot as I type! This is going to be a hell of a time I think!
