Thanked: 131Its just so that when I come to decorate these scales it is correct. I was thinking of 'SRP:UK First meet' and the date of the meet. Although any designs etc are welcome (I think in particular of our resident PCR badge artist Silver).

I reckon the children's hospital sounds darned good to me. Gift of the gab? That's just a load of contrafundunambulismic transambibulations. I love pogonomous though - the mental imagery it conjures is well off the radar!
Meanwhile I thought Silver might like this -
Well i did know a girl who carried a pearl-handled switchblade a long time ago but this has a lot more class!

Thanked: 131Perhaps we could find a charity which is local to the venue to which we could make a donation?
Just an idea.....

I'm sure she will
Are we to be most priviliged with the presence of this gem upon the occasion of the Straightfete?
One question I would most humbly like to pose for your consideration gentlemen is as follows. Will all the prizes from the Raffle at the gathering be open to the entirety of the SRP membership? Before I am accused of parsimony, I will explain my reasoning for enquiry. If all of the prizes are open to the entire membership, is it not extremely likely that all of the trophies will be won by members who are not actually attending, or indeed even in the UK? It is simply a question of probabilities. There are a far greater number of SRPers who are not resident in the United Kingdom than are. However many people do come to Brum, unless hundreds arrive in Kings Heath, it will be such a small proportion as to be staistically almost negligible. So what you might think?
In my most humble opinion, whilst this may be "fair" to the whole membership, it is not as "fair" to those who are making the effort to attend. Perhaps if there were two prize draws, one open to all & one for attendees. It would be nice if the first UK meet celebrated straight razor use in the UK.
Are the raffle prizes at the gatherings our Cousins hold open to the whole membership or just to the participants? There does not seem to be any mention of this that I can discover in the meetings subforum.
Please am I just a crazy Taff or do any of you gentlemen agree with me? Even slightly.
Or you can just tell me to shut the frak up. I really am used to it
PS Can you tell that I hold our mother tongue in as high regard as you Steve?

Thanked: 416The SE raffles were only open to attending members. I think all have been that way so far.

I am happy for things to remain within the attending members grasp. I thought it may have been good to involve everyone else for something but it certainly makes it easier all round if it is just attending members. No need to send prizes out etc. That dramatically increases my chance of winning the one-off Dovo of course! I have a couple of razors I will be putting in and some other things like plastic wall mounted brush stands (an eBay job lot - new). I reckon the chances of going home with something extra could be pretty high.
If anyone else has views on the raffle, contrary to what has been the norm elsewhere and what has been stated here please say.
cheers
Stephen

For my two-penn'orth I agree with Spike - I would like to see the guys who attend have a go at the raffle. I've nothing whatsoever against anyone winning prizes but it would seem that the math does agree with Spike - the chances of most of the raffle prizes being exported is high. I've not had any comeback yet from Kent but am still badgering (ouch!) them. Dovo have sent me a flag and some fancy runic lapel badges.
And yes Spike I will bring it with me -oh, and the other one I have as well! (BTW considering you're of the Leek and Daff persuasion you speaka da lingo better than me!)
