Mmmm.....the nearest superheroto me in terms of the purely physical is a guy called 'Herbie' that no-one I bet has heard of! He, like me, like lollipops. Nuff said.

Thanked: 84Or The Invisible Man

I still like Herbie - his terrible war cry of 'I'll bop you with my lollipop' was the MOST underrated call to sheer mayhem of all. Hulk?Thing? Black Bolt? Forget it - Herbie would have creamed 'em all.
Do like Blade, though, in the words of Ronald Searle, very tuough. The invisible man? Tell him I can't see him...........(sorry!!)
Hey, the more I think of it, the more I like Blade. Wesley Snipes, huh? Well, I'm the wrong colour, wrong age, not quite (dammit) as good looking and certainly not as, er, athletic shall we say but other than that (oh and the fact that he is a film star and seriously loaded) we are pretty much exactly alike. WOW!Last edited by blueprinciple; 07-27-2008 at 11:20 AM. Reason: had a think

Thanked: 11appologies.....
Just found out about the 'meet' from the man from Bute, don't know how i missed this thread, but haven't been a member long. I wont be able to attend, as I'm picking up my son from Heathrow after his 5 week party in New Zealand......
If anyone is interested i am willing to donate a prize for the raffle. my other hobby is woodturning, well pen making in particular. If you want a pen or two give me the nod. If you are keeping it to shaving stuff, I understand of course! Just my two penneth....!
I hope all goes well and it is a success.
Best wishes,
Mark........

Mark - thanks for the offer - I reckon nobody is going to leave this bash empty handed! I think the idea of turned pens is just fine - nobody will be upset in winning one I am sure. You can send them to me but it may be easier to pass them on to 'Blueprinciple' Steve as he is closer to the event and his bag will not run the risk of becoming lost luggage on the way from Inverness! I really wish I hadn't just thought that...
Pity you can't be there but we will get lots of images up on the site after the event. Over this weekend a front home page ad will hopefully go up (okay, I need to get round to doing that!) with all the details drawn together and the raflle prizes etc.
We were going to make a print off sheet for those coming to provide good reason in any eventuality enroute to the event. For that reason and to enable an offer to go out to others at Badger & Blade and British Blades it would be good to know numbers. The venue max is 45 members. I was planning to leave it open for members here for the next 14 days or so to 'sign up' and then promote at the other sites that we have a limited number of spaces available and to sign up also. This will generate wider interest in straights, increase SRP membership and make for a better atmosphere I am sure. If anybody thinks this a bad idea (and I have asked here a couple of weeks ago with no dissent) please say now.
After the front page ad is up perhaps we can then start to make a list of firm attendees.
cheers
Stephen
