    Default another update...

talked to another brother today and I need to go back on Sat. to talk to both of them. The plan is try to get there early so they will not be staggering when we talk! I was hoping to get it for free but it loks like they may want to charge a few bucks a head but we'll see what Billy(the first bother)says on Sat. But again, if not it will be here at my place which is down the street, and parking is great on Sunday afternoon as well.
If coming by train the G is closest at Nassau Ave of the L at Bedford Ave which is the last stop before going into the city from Brooklyn.
If any questions feel free to ask.
As I said, I will know for sure about the bar by Sat night and if not it will be here. 176 Russell St. Brooklyn NY 11222.
    I will keep you posted.

Sorry, but I've got family stuff on Sunday (it is a trip to see family, after all) so I won't be able to make it. Have some fun for me, though.

    Default update

My corner bar guy wants like 10 or 15 bucks a head so forget him!
Then yesterday after I went to my first flea market and got a W4B for $5 and a mint Wosterholm and Son with awesome etching for $10!
Anyway, I saw a friend afterward and showed him my buys and he remembered and old barbers roll a friend gave him and out pops a mint 75 Puma and a nice Swaty along with some other stuff.
All that was well and good until another friend who happens to be well off from family money tells me he is a huge fan of the str8 razor and in fact raced one of his horses he names Straight Edge Razor in a race last week!
To make a long story short he is totally into it and wants to host the meet in his "space" in the city
I will get more details tomorrow and will keep you filled in.
AGAIN...this is happening weather in his space or mine.
Sorry things are changing a round a bit but it will be confirmed soon enough so bare with me.
I also wish there was some chatter here because we need to make a plan besides just where., no?

    Here's your chatter. ;-)

Thanks for all your work setting this up, Kevin.

For my part, I'm a newbie coming to get some basic honing advice. I have a razor in need and a Norton starter set (220/1K + 4K/8K). I'll bring my whole kit, and if there's anyone who can take 10 minutes to tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'd be most grateful.

Other than that, I'm coming to meet people and learn whatever comes up.

Sounds great! I'm a newbie to straight shaving and the SRP; been lurking for a few months but still learning much. I'd love to come to the meet.

Personally, I'd like to learn basic honing, and maybe simple repairs. It would be great to meet people from the forum in real life, too. Name a place, and count me in!

    Thanks.

Man that's an amazing story. I can show what I know about cleaning and honing, very basic stuff. Let me know what happens with your friend, and what you mean by "space".

    Default good question

I have not seen the "space" yet but will try to do a drive by on Wed. when the rain lets up. As far as I can tell is it sounds like a store that is empty at this point so I need to get back to him about bathroom and tables and stuff.
It will be ready by then or we go to my place as a back up.
I also need to ask about parking but usually on Sunday afternoon there should not be a problem.
The address for the place in the city is 529 E 5th st. the East Village basically.
Again I will keep you posted.

I was mostly hoping to talk shop and learn a bit about honing. All I have at this point is a barbers hone, but figured I could learn a thing or two by watching.

Thought I might bring some custom scales I made, and just hang out and talk razors.

Looking forward to the meet. It would be great if it took place in the east village. I'm over on the west side, but know some great bars and such on the east side for later in the evening if anyone is interested

Default OK guys, it is a done deal!!

The address again is 529 E 5th St. bet. Ave. A/B.
Parking should be fine since it is Sunday and with the weather in the mid 70's I'm sure most people with cars a will be using them to get out of the city and not in, lol.
Anyway, I am syked and look forward to seeing everyone!
QuickNicker, you better make it since our other honing expert backed out on us. I hope there are some senior members coming since I see we have plenty of newbies to go around. Honing and light restoration seem to be the main things to cover besides just razor talk in general.

One important thing is the generous guy who is lending us his space free of charge(Mark) doesn't have enough chairs to seat us all so if you would not mind bringing a folding chair or two that would be great.

There is a bathroom and even a shower in case you were wondering, and even a bar literally next door called Aces which I have heard good things about....Just sayin

Dylan, try and reconsider if you can, you will fit right into the East Village!

Any questions or suggestions let me know.

    See you then.

    Kevin
