I am bringing some diamond spray, diamond paste, CrOx and boron carbide in case someone wants to treat a strop, paddle or some balsa. So, if you have something you want to paste, bring it.
Same applies to stones needing lapping...bringing a DGLP.
Sorry for the lack of notice.Last edited by Bill S; 07-23-2010 at 03:56 AM.

Many thanks to gandrw and Mrs gandrw for hosting the Michigan get together at their home. Everything was great, and their hospitality is much appreciated. While the group wasn't large the event was a big success.
Undream rescaled two razors with both lucky owners selecting translucent and black horn handles. Everyone got to observe the whole process, going from a flat piece of horn to the beautiful finished product.
Woodchuck brought some pieces of mahogany, and gandrw had some other turning blanks on hand to be turned into brush handles. He also had a few knots available if someone wanted to make a finished brush. Woodchuck was well on his way to a nice new brush when I left.
Leadduck (who was visiting from the East Coast) had his Revisor rescaled. The Revisor was suffering from a cracked scale, but when it left it was really looking good in it's new horn scales. Very Nice razor.
Leadduck's son in law Joe turned a handle for a DE head (furnished by gandrw) and left with a new style of shaving, a nice razor and a sampler of DE blades.
Some of the guys, Woodchuck in particular, did a bunch of honing and razor tweaking. Everyone spent a fair amount of time admiring the various razors on hand as the "show and tell" went on. (Woodchuck, don't let that Filly get away.)
Brats on the grill, a little test shaving and a few new friendships rounded out the day. Here are a few pictures. I think Leadduck took some, and will hopefully post them. I have a few more that I will post later.
A great way to spend the day. Thanks to all that attended.

Thank you all for coming out to my place for the get together. It was allot of fun hanging out with fellow Straight shavers. I hope we can do this again in the future, I learned more about honing and got to try out some very impressive razors. Thank you every one for the contributions you made to a great day.

It sounds like you all had a great time. I wish I could have made it - ah well, next time, or maybe I can host the next one.
