Thanked: 0The pork looks great! Smoking is one of my other hobbies. This website has great recipes and ideas in its forums. The Virtual Weber Bullet - For the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker smoker enthusiast It's mainly users of the Weber bullet smoker but there are some BGE users and the recipes are good for any smoker.
I'll have to check with the wife but may be able to make it for a little while that weekend.

Pulled Pork is my favorite!
Utopian,
So it sounds like Nov 6 is first day of two day event. I plan to be there, but will only be there for Nov. 6. A few questions: What can I bring? Beverages? Side dish? Want to make it a pitch in type thing? Can I provide some $$$ for food? Should I bring razors/hones/strops? Need anything like folding tables to work on? Anything else I'm forgetting? I'm to new to str8 - 2 months now and have never been to any events.
Thanks,
LouG

Thanked: 3795I suspect few will stay long, if at all, for the second day. Those that drove from MN or MO who spent the spent the night will want to head back fairly early. I'll just leave the second day open in case someone can't make it on Saturday. Randy has told me that he will probably come down from the Twin Cities and he will be there the second day so if no else is around, I'll just have him give my wife a honing lesson!
The particulars for most of your questions will have to get sorted out closer to the date. Step one for me still is to finish throwing dirt out of a basement window so I can put down a new concrete slab, as that will be part of the razor restoration area for the meet-up.
Certainly you can bring beverages . A sturdy folding table or two would be appreciated if anyone wants to get a look at Randy's and my hones. We both have a few. You are certainly welcome to bring razors, hones, or strops, especially if you have anything special to show off. We'll be set for hones and strops for any honing demonstrations though. If you have any razors that need a little work, certainly bring them. I can buff them, Benjamin can re-scale them, and Randy can re-hone them!

Thanked: 0Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to SRP, fellas. I apologize, but I haven't had time to go through the whole thread yet. I'll make sure to do that before the end of the day. However, I figured I'd show up, let you guys know I'm alive. Thank you to Utopian for starting this thread. Hopefully, an Iowa straight razor meetup becomes a regular thing. Not sure what you guys have planned, but I can still volunteer my apartment for a meetup.

Thanked: 0Alright, I've gone through the thread. Finally.
My apartment is smallish, and if we put 10 people in it, I'll have to move furniture around to make room for a table. On the up side, my apt door goes directly outside for grilling and tobacco pursuits. If there's a bigger venue available, it'd probably be better. However, my place is open as a back-up.
It sounds as if Nov. 6/7 is the tentative date? If so, let's get an updated roster going.
Side note, is anyone else not getting e-mail updates about their subscribed threads?
