I hear steak and pork chops are good for recovery! When is the next procedure scheduled?

Originally I was envisioning this as a pathetic little gathering of us wretched refuse here in Iowa. THAT would fit in my house. If many people are interested in actually coming, we'll definitely have to come up with another venue.

Did anyone from Volchonok's initial post receive my SECOND PM? I sent it to Volchonok, BKratchmer, LouG, NoseWarmer, and Herbie5075 and haven't heard back from them.

    Yep, I got it.
Iowa City works for me. I would offer the Kratchmer shop as a venue, but since it doesn't actually belong to BKratchmer I really can't do so at this time... otherwise we do have a medium-large (though not by current building standards...) home on an acreage. Might not be so great for late October, but for future meets...

Are there any rent-able venues in Iowa City that we could afford?

    Thumbs up

    Utopian,

Maybe we should relocate the meeting down south a bit more, to somewhere in the Big Mo where we could wheel Lynn's gurney around from shavery to stropery to lapery to honery and soapforth and soapforth. I could talk to Mike Blue to see if we could fit the kathumpa kathumpa impact marvel into the PU - new transmission you know - and motor it down MO way.

I got the second message, here I am... Anyway... I will be back from Wyoming the last week of October so either late October/first of November should work for me...

I can make Ames, Waterloo or Des Moines... I can send the wife and daughter shopping with out any money...

All right, thanks to NoseWarmer we at least have a tentative window of time. For now, I will suggest Saturday, October 30 as a starting point. This will happen to be my first day of being unemployed so this will be a good distraction! If you have a conflict with this date, please let us know on this thread.

For location, I realize it's most convenient to me, but I still consider Iowa City to be the most central point among those who have expressed an interest. Personally I'd rather hold this in a home rather than a conference room but I'll look into both options within the next week.

Edit: NoseWarmer, I just re-read your post and realized that you did not mention Iowa City. Is that out of your acceptable range?

Name the place and I'll get me there. Iowa City is good, but I really miss Bushnell's Turtle.

Bruce the hammer weighs 4,000 lbs and I really don't want to move it. I do have some smallish demonstration stuff though. Let me think on it.

No, Iowa City city is not out... Was just trying to bring it a little closer to my house. Can't blame me for trying...

I guess we could have it in a bar... A bunch of guys with straights..

After a little more thought, try to push the date slightly later. It'd give Lynn more recovery time.

Plus I have a piece of steel that really should get pushed into blade shape. It contains nickel that will run across the edge and I'd really like Ron to eyeball that under the microscope. Experimental stuff ya know!

    Wink

    Mike,

Two tons, huh? Smallish more is sounding better more by the minute. I'm curious about the nickel: do nickel alloys have the hardenability that razors' edges require? Is this a patterned steel or a homogeneous alloy? Questions abound now that the new transmission is saved from premature aging.

    cheers, Bruce
