Thanked: 1I'm new as the driven snow, and I'd definitely come out (providing no conflicts with the calendar). I've only been straight shaving for a few months and would love to learn a little from the more experienced.

Thanked: 993BMH, you're added to the list.
Like teemus said, this will be a great way to pick up some pointers on many different aspects of the hobby. Glad you can join us!

That's great I was hoping to see more guys from out of town coming. I am going to call one of the Legions in Toronto to see if we can hold it there. Not to mention those guys wouldn't freak out when we start pulling out a bunch of razors. More than likely they will come over and check it out.

May 28 sounds great to me as it stands.
So at the legion eh, that means beer and blades. Interesting combo.

I'd be interested depending on when my son's college graduation is...Buffalo is about two hours away. Dylan, all you need is an enhanced license which might be quicker than a passport, then we could ride together.

I'll have to look into the license thing. Thanks for the heads up on that.
D - I haven't even finished the first bottle yet!
With regards to what to bring - BRING EVERYTHING!!!!
With regards to demos - I have found that at first meets, most of the time gets taken up with meet & greet, show & tell, and honing. Light resto (MAAS, tightening pins, etc) also fits in well. Beyond that, the main drawbacks are the amount of time buffers can eat up and that many guys are so new its not that applicable yet, and the more advanced guys are usually tied up helping the new guys. But, if there is resto stuff you really want to cover, it can be done.
Typically, I bring my personal razors, my honing setup, and whatever people request beyond that. I would be happy to help with honing demos (I use Naniwas, but synthetic honing applies to pretty much all synthetic hones). I also bring a coticule/BBW as one of my finishers, so I can help demo that. I don't like bringing a strop (cause I'm weird about traveling with a strop), but I can help demo stropping. If requested, I can bring my pinning kit and help demo pin tightening and/or repinning. If there is a buffer (I brought mine on request to a Ft Lee meet, but it really got no attention, so I don't do that anymore), I can help demo what I know with that. Shave demos are a popular request if there are facilities, and I can help with that too.
