Thanks for the show of hospitality, Gerrit. I look forward to meeting all of you and learning as much as I can about the art of shaving.

Thanked: 2I am available any weekend. I am excited to meet up with some shavers in person! I have been in touch with Mike (hornm) a few times and I am sure us guys here in the portland area can work out some kind of carpool.

Thanked: 1Hey folks, not to threadjack but I'm a SR newbie here in Portland and I'm having difficulty finding a good place to get my razor honed and stropped. Is there anyone who's willing to meet up and teach me how to hone and strop, or any recommendations on where I can get it done? I've got a H Boker & Co. 4/8 extra hollow-ground, so I'm looking for folks who have quite a bit of experience as I'd hate to ruin my razor any further (I'm sure I've been warping the thing and dulling it quite badly whenever I've tried to strop).

Thanked: 19I'm kind of lost here: is there a final date and place decided?
From my understanding, it would be:
- the May 5-6 weekend
- at Gerrit's place ("deighaingeal", in Yakima, WA)
Am I right?
thanks.

The plan is my place on May 5 and 6. Bring all you want and be sure to brinfg lists of questions, projects, "show and tell", notebook to write (if you think you can write as fast as Glen talks), and anything and everything else you can think of. As times approach I will try to remember to make a post so we can get a final body count.

Ak1m, you are more than welcome to join us as is everyone else. If you are in the area beforehand I would be glad to meet up and help you where I can.

P.M. Rob (pinklather) he's just out in Scappoose. I'm here in PDX but don't have much of a set of stones (we'll see what I can add after taxes ). I could work with you on the stropping bit though.

Oh...and if you get over in the Hawthorne area check out Escential lotions and oils. They usually have Omega boar brushes and do their own shea butter shave soap and (brushless) cream.
