Thanked: 13245Absolutely a fantastic time down in Yakima for the weekend, First a THANK YOU !!!! to Garritt and Wanda for opening their home once again to be invaded by a bunch of guys with rocks and sharp steel.. The Food and Drink was just way over the top, still patting my full belly
As always it was good to see old friends and make new ones, I really love these meets as it helps me to see first hand the struggles that new guys are having with the Hones. Being able to sit down across the table, and answer their questions helps me when I answer them on the forums and in the vids.. I will get the pics we took up soonest, what few there were, hehehe we were busy and having fun
Some interesting aspects we discussed about the thread on E-bay razors to learn honing on, three of the razors that we pulled out to hone all would have given a beginner fits trying to "learn" on... It brought to light very quickly some of the things that were being actively dicussed on the forum, I found that to be very timely myself..
Anyway will quit rambling right now and try and get the pics loaded and up soonest
Once again, a great time, and well worth the trip

I'll second that!! THANK YOU Garritt and Wanda, so nice of you two to do all you did! I was a bit overcome by the kindness and generosity of you two, as well as all present. I wasn't really feeling all that great and would love to see everyone again when I'm doing better. It was my first time at a meet and first time in Washington. I wasn't let down by either, good people and great things to see and experience. The drive for me was pretty brutal, to do it again I'll need to squeeze in another day somehow.
Thanks to all again!!! DonSilence is Golden, but duct tape is Silver.

Hey guys. I am just pulling the second to the last brush off the finishing lathe and about to finish the final one. Got Don's scales finished yesterday and will attempt to hit it on the hones today. I am hoping to start grinding on Michael's razor today as well.
I hope everyone had a great time and got enough to eat. I know that I did.
Thank you all so very much for coming. If you didn't, it would just be a couple of guys and a LOT of food!
I am getting back at it in a few minutes and If anyone is coming through this way, please let me know ahead of time, this is great fun for me.

Gerrit and Wanda, thank you for your hospitality and for hosting the event. I thank everyone for showing up and allowing me to pick your brains so I could learn this new hobby; I learned months if not years worth of information by making a shaving brush, sharpening a razor, touching up one, tightening a pin and most of all watching and listening to everyone as they honed and discussed shaving topics. I would recommend to anyone getting started in this, even if just for shaving, to attend a meeting if possible!

Gerrit and Wanda!
I am so disappointed that I wasn’t able to attend the meet!!! Things just didn’t work out!
I know first hand how gracious you both are from when we met at the Spokane meet two years ago! You both made me and my son feel so comfortable!
Without being able to attend, I thank you both for opening up your home and sharing the days with others!

Thanked: 0Noooooo! Can't believe I didn't see this thread until just now. This is what I get for not checking SRP on a more frequent basis. I blame it on school & work. Guess I'll have to keep my eyes open for next year.

Yes - grumpycuc - where ya hailing from? Maybe some members nearby you could connect with.
I'd read it in prior year's meet-up threads, but the pleasure & hospitality at the honorable deighaingeal's home is not to be believed. 'Pure pleasure. 'Met Mike Blue for the first time, and THAT was a pleasure also. 'Always good to see the sixgunner who is a treasure chest of skills and knowledge that he gives away for free - and is a pleasure to get time with. 'Missed the Cudarunner. Hopefully the Sept. meet.
Noobs: these gatherings are hard to recommend enough.
