I can assure that the Goldfisch Wetzstones are from Belgium Origin, i will add the story and reveal more information when the company profile from F&Co. is available for public and checked back from my counterpart of the family....

@gabe: will hit you up tomorrow, sorry beeing busy at the moment...
It's okay buddy. I figured you weren't ignoring me.

I am definately not saying they aren't from Belgium and I don't have enough samples to have a real educated opinion on the matter but just comparing the cut corner I got from you to my RDS I think something is off. More than just variation within the vein. The smell is #1 for me, I have never encountered a rock that smells different than a sample of the same material. My RDS and cotis hardly smell but the cut corner can be smelled easily and is very distinct. I want to compare it to a labeled Goldfisch to see if it is more alike than the RDS.

Also as the cut corner is not labeled so do we really know what it is? Maybe it just LOOKS like a Goldfisch/Lorraine/RDS.

It is too bad we live so far apart and cannot compare our stones in person. These purple ones are interesting and there is like no information out there about them.

When I first acquired my Rouge de Salm I tried to use it with oil. The oil actually dissolved the top layer of the stone creating a very thick slurry. So you might go one step further and say an RDS is lipophilic. Used with water no such issue. Has anyone ever experienced something similar?

I received a La Lorraine today in the mail......
Nice color! I am looking forward to using it......
So I am guessing this hone is coarser than a coti?
OR is this hone a "1 stone" all the way to finishing hone?
I guess each one would be varied too?

    Here's mine.

It really depends a bit on the stone, i owned a unlabelled one and a labelled one, used with thick slurry they worked quite fast...

The Lorraine i own is a very fine finisher...i really like it

So it's your buying spree that is driving up prices.
Great stone, I am still looking for an affordable one on the bay.

Ok... Today I actually had time and lapped my La Lorraine with my DMT 325...... Got it flat..... The LL is 9 inches long and the DMT is 8 inches long.....
Any how.... Right after lapping it.... I was rubbing a finger on it and notice that certain areas are rough compared to some that are super smooth. I relapped and it is the same. Rough in some areas and super smooth in others..... Is this normal for this hone?

It depends on the stone and in my thinking also on which position of the layer it was taken out....

My early posted one has something like a very reddish BBW Side, which is very smooth to the touch....if you come to the areas where its getting like another material it tends to be coarser...

Never experienced any bad issues with that...
