Thanked: 169I actually sent you a pm. I fed it a few more sheets.. It actually did reduce the most shallow stuff visibly, but it also gave me some very deadened wet dry. On the plus side I have some wet dry fit for straight razor initial rust removal now because it knocked it back that far. I think a couple of hours maybe this weekend if the silicon carbide arrives by then will get this where I can use 100% of the surface, and then I might get some automotive grits of sandpaper to really push it. Normally I buff coticules on rocks after I lap them but I don't think the garnets would do anything to this stuff...

Thanked: 169It goes without saying, don't lap one of these with a dmt unless it is a dead dmt you are throwing loose grit on...

Thanked: 169Popped a glob of water on the surface after I stopped grinding the stone a little over an hr and a half ago. Nothing has changed yet.

Thanked: 169Still there. You can also see some of the things I am lapping away like that shallow bird shaped pit and some.factory scratches near the edge. I'm going to sleep. I'll remember to check the water in the morning.

Lol...water dried up on mine in like 10 minutes!! The joys of living in Arizona .
My rock has some of the exact same fractures. Getting these things flat sucks!

In post 23 those two chips exhibit a conchoidal fracture pattern. That's one of the tests for quartz.
