Thanked: 0I guess it depends on when those razors left the factory and where you got it. Mine probably left the factory ~2 years ago and sold online, I would assume they were the worst.

If u seen how they produce a factory edge at Dovo, you'd understand why they come with frowns most of the time.

I'm not really sure how old that Col. Conk of mine is. It was brand new (NOS really i guess) when I got it as a gift from my family doctor. He bought it while on vacation in Germany and never used it. It had been years and years, I just don't know how many. My guess is at least 10 and maybe 20.

Thanked: 2209If that razor has an HRC of approx 70 ( which is highly doubtful) then it will most certainly be brittle and very prone to microchips.
There is a reason that most razors are in the HRC range of 58-60. That range produces stable edges on the steel.

Let's not forget George W. Korn (Little Valley) KaBar (Olean) and Robeson (Rochester) all cut from the same cloth as those listed above and all fantastic hard carbon steel; some of the best EVER for razors in my opinion.
It also bears saying that not only was.the steel of top quality in these maker's razors but so was.the craftsmanship. This was a golden age and golden place for cutlery.Last edited by PaulFLUS; 01-17-2024 at 10:12 PM.
