Thanked: 488Jimmy that's what I've been told so I came to the same conclusion you did as far as density and size creating a smoother edge possibly.
As I said they are supposed to be pretty fast but smooth and that backs up what I've heard also.
Of course guys I'm just speculating until I get it on Wed and try it out on several razors and use several methods. Oh yea I'm not going to run my razors across glass.

Thanked: 488Got the La Dressante Au Blue yesterday and worked on a couple of razors. Cuts darn good with water and the BBW side is also very very useful. It's a nice looking stone.

yea my stone keeps releasing these garnets but I don't know what to do with them. I'm afraid they'll damage the razor.

It is a pretty one. What does the side look like ? I look at the sides to tell, more than the top, for figuring out which layer a coticule came out of.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 13Hmm, looking at the top, it looks a bit like la Veinette to me (I have a la Veinette and my slurry stone is said to be la Dressante au blue, and judging from that… well, my (said to be; I´m not sure) la dressante au blue has those little white spots and is of a more greenish color. I´d suggest looking through the coticule-vault and comparing looks)… How do the sides look?
Regards,
tok

No not magnified it's about an inch across. It comes from a deposit in Roxbury Conn. A locality called Green's farm. You can go there and mine the stuff yourself and have enough garnets to, well, to do anything you want with them.
Actually they grind those up for garnet paper. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
