Actually they grind those up for garnet paper.
if this is the case how in the world you could use that stone sharpening straight razor.
i thought you have magnified or done something to it.
it was my first time i have seen so large Garnet in sharpening stone.

My neighbor in the Adirondacks, now deceased, used to carry a big garnet like that in his pocket all the time. It came from down the road a piece.. The Barton Mines in North River, N.Y.

I've got a La Veinette and it is a creamy pale color. No blue veins but it was sold as a kosher. The longer one in the top photo. I sold the tiger stripe. They say the La Veinette is a fast cutter but mine is not. Good finisher/polisher though. I confess I've never used it with slurry. I'll have to give that a try.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Default la drassante au blue

this is la drassante au blue. note how they join.

also notice how the surface is differant.

i'm very confident that is not what he says . not that it matter s but at least you may find out which layer it is . i would say it s either la patite blanch or la vainette.

Gary it sure does look different. Think I'll go look at some pics with the spider veins in it.

How about this La Veinette looks like mine--yes?

But then again--- Le Dressante Mine is much closer to this color

i have all three i like them all but if i had to choose one it would be a la vainette. your yellow side should cut pritty well with slurry and on water should feel like honing on glass. also should have a nice sound in use which is hard to explain but a sound like faint cutting or slicing

Where is this coticule-vault? In the wiki?
