Thanked: 237Initial test on the kiita with base complete. Holy smokes. Leaves a mirror finish and cuts very fast. Comes in at 6mm thick, so it's obviously been someone's favorite stone for a long time!

The Thanksgiving holidays were pretty good to me with 7 stones in altogether.
First up, a classic Nakayama yellow kiita, very pretty and it can cut the hard SLD steel in my Yoshikane knife. It also polishes well and puts a good edge on a razor with a clear-water finish.
Next, the stone I posted a few days ago in HOTD, an orange kiita with a red 'stripe'. It's a little harder and also polishes well and is a looker.
Third, a sage-green hard asagi, very dense and heavy, and puts a very fine edge on a razor with thin slurry.
Fourth, a little stand-mounted, barber-size grey Nakayama, very fine and an excellent razor finisher.
Took a while to get everything leaned, lapped, inspected, tested, etc.
Cheers, Steve

And the last one, an old-stock kiita with a fitted base and a maruka stamp on the end. Very dense, not overly hard and very fine. Glad to have this onein the stable.
Cheers, Steve
