Surprised that Suehiro Gokumyo isn't used much.
I find it to be an excellent finisher.
Since dollar is pretty strong now, might be a good time to take the plunge.

I'm also thinking of buying one of those 0.5 micron. That, or a Sigma select 13k.
Those Gokumyo are not the cheapest of finishers, plus they are man made. No matter how good they are, they will never be popular enough.

I'm not sure which was the post you were talking about, but probably, LI stands for Llyn Idwal.

Terrible photo but shows my honing progression. I start with a coticule, move on to a thuringian and finish up with 10 strokes each on .25 micron diamond spray and chromium oxide. Strop afterwards, of course. Works pretty well. I can't seem to duplicate the edges my dealer puts on razors but assume it is a matter of practice.

I only have one hone (this far) so there is not much of a choice to be made. I haven't had chance to use my Zulu Grey much since my razor holds it's edge pretty well yet. But this far I am impressed by the stone. When I used it I got my razor sharp and smooth. I think it shaves really nicely and it didn't take any effort to refresh it.
