My best 400x edge.
Bobski
To explain, the finishing hone was naniwa superstone 10k, 12 edge trailing strokes. After watching Matt Robbins video of 'Nanocloth' I came up with my own version on a synthetic chamois (Window cloth), impregnated it with chromium oxide and placed it on a balsa block. Dampened down and 100 strokes on this crox 'material' What can I say, it was an amazing shave. I don't normally keep razor pics of micro images, but this was a success, on my face.Last edited by bobski; 06-23-2016 at 07:17 AM. Reason: Info

Same blade just shows the gleaming edge isn't a wire edge or a burr.
For members, the razor in these images was a Dovo Prima Klang 5/8. Cheers Bob.Last edited by bobski; 06-23-2016 at 08:05 AM. Reason: Correction

Thanked: 104I have a 200x veho digital scope, another 400x scope, and a 40x loupe. So with the greatest respect, if you were right I'd agree with you.

Thanked: 104Neither image was out of focus. I don't understand why you negative everything. It's a lovely image of a nice edge, yet you put shit on it. Mate you are the one with the problem. You never asked a thing about the photo other than to poo poo it. Members deserve a fair go. You are not entitled to embarrass members.

I'm not trying to embarass anyone & never said you had a problem.
You told us what equipment was used & your process so I didn't need to ask any questions.
I may have bad eyes but a 500x edge pic should look more like this for clarity & definition.
Not my scope btw. I can't afford one.Last edited by onimaru55; 06-24-2016 at 10:42 AM.

Thanked: 246This can be a contentious subject due to the variables involved. Lighting source and angle, in addition to the edge position in the frame and angle of the blade can all play a huge role in the information we get from a scope image. So there tends to be a lot of subjective argument around scope shots. Don't take it the wrong way, it's just the way it is with any subject that can be seen from many different viewpoints and at cross purposes.
For example, here is a shot with my preferred setup. I like this setup because I can easily see peaks and valleys and get a relative idea of scratch depth. This is a shot of a wire edge/burr coming off while honing on a Chosera 1k. I did this intentionally for the photo - normally I do my best to avoid this happening.
