I've had the thought that some of the 'near NOS' vintage razors that are around might be because the original owner could not get them to hold an edge and just set them aside to be discovered years later in 'hardly used at all' condition.

Thanked: 3215This is a common issue, after using a Diamond Plate with pressure on some steel, or too aggressive grit stones to set a bevel.
You will have to remove some of the edge to get to good steel, bread knife the edge and re-set the edge on good synthetic 1K.
As I recall you are using aggressive low grit stones or unknown grit naturals.
When you do set your new bevel use lite pressure, you may have to breadknife a couple times to get to good steel.
