Heard good things about these so when I found one cheap I had to check it out. Shave test next, but it looks good so far. Took a nice edge very quickly.Name: DSC01110.jpg

I agree. I bet it would make a great poster picture for a shave den.

Quick touch up with my Nakayama Maruichi kamisori today. Raised a light slurry with my Nakayama Kiita and diluted to a fine mist of slurry, this hone dosnt really like water only laps.
I find using another finishing hone to create a slurry to work perfectly.

Beautiful hones! I tried doing that with my two ozukus. Lol the stones were so hard that I couldn’t raise a slurry at all.

Cheers, that's why some like to use a well worn DMT or Atoma to create a pure base stone slurry.

Today was touch-up day. Two razors hadn't been honed by me, but the rest were just needing a little maintenance. I started on 9 micron film, roughly 4000 grit equivalent. Next time I may start at 3 micron (8000 grit equivalent), but I wanted to ensure the razors had a solid honing foundation. Took my time, going through 9, 5, 3, and 1 microns, then finishing at 0.3 micron, roughly 12,000 grit. It took over two hours to complete, but I am expecting good results during the next shave. The small Geneva cutlery razor will eventually be sold. It takes a good edge, but my goal is to keep the number of razors to seven. I will probably replace one of the black scaled ones, as it doesn't center right, even after making some adjustments, but that will be down the road. Eventually I will pick up some stones and retire the lapping film, but it works well for now.
