Yup, it will only get better, stropping technique and a quality strop will improve your shaves. Most folks take a year or so before their stropping is improving their edges.

So, a year from now your shaves will be vastly better, even if you did not buy any more equipment and just mastered what you have.

I'm thinking about getting a Japanese natural finisher, but I don't really know what I'm looking for. I keep seeing level 4, level 5...etc. I'd like a fast cutting finisher that makes great edges, but not over the top sharp....moderately aggressive edges I guess. Is it possible to be that picky about a finisher or am I getting crazy?
With a patient & helpful seller you can try a number of stones to achieve what you want, returning the rejects.
However you also need the skills to achieve what you want.

That's not a shoulderless blade on the hone problem- maybe shoulderless blade in manufacturing problem- leading t hone problems. I have a bismarck- it is the last dovo I plan to ever buy. bevel and spine poorly ground at the factory, spine/blade warped. I fixed it in short work and it is a flawless shaver now. But it was very upsetting in a new blade. Check that blade for bend if the middle is sharpening more- and don't use any slurry on those stones. Just getting rid of the slurry might resolve your problem. If it's pooled in the middle, then that without a bend could wear heavier. Spend more time on the finish stones than at the beginning.

I don't have anything to magnify, yet. I'll be getting something soon tho. I do use the thumb nail test for checking the bevel and have been doing that since day one and it seemed fine and complete, but I think I may have over done it on my finisher, or ruined it with the strop. I'll take a couple photos in just a sec, but my camera isn't great
Ok, so my small illuminated scope came today....what exactly am I looking for on the edge?

On a bevel set, you're looking for nothing on the edge. Just a clean meeting of 2 sides as in pic.

A finished edge should look fairly similar tho more polished.
The shave test alone will tell you if it's a good edge in spite of visuals

Notice the straightness of Onamiru’s edge and the even stria pattern.

Take another look at “Second Try at Honing” post 32, last and second to last photo show a fully set bevel looking straight down on the edge. There are many good micrographs of bevels and edges in that post.

I wanna know that too! My guess is, it's an autocorrect fail.
