Thanked: 8Yes, it's auto correct. Most of the time I'm on my phone, and I use Swype texting, so the auto correct will change words even after I've chosen the correct word, at times. It's a pain. I try to proof read, but sometimes they slip through.

Thanked: 8I'm fairly certain that my bevel setting is on point(pun intended) but I'm not so sure that I'm fully removing the scratch patterns of the 1k, or other lower grit stones, before finishing. Hopefully this little scope helps me see something I'm doing wrong, and improves my honing. Without something to check, it's like just guessing that I've fully removed those scratches, and relying solely on slurry, or blade feedback to tell me things. I may start incorporating a different grit into the progression.

It'll take a while to learn how to interpret what you see in the magnified examination, but ver time you'll start to figure it out. A good tip, from what I learned, is to look at (and capture) pictures of the edge during and after each honing stone, so you become familiar with what it looks like, under your level of magnification.
Here's a tip that I figured out...
I was honing a blade with heel forward at 45 degrees. I would photo the edge at the end of a honing for a grit. I would then go to the next grid up, with the same technique, and the photos. The tip was, on that next hone, to do, say, 10 strokes with the blade perpendicular and then look under the microscope. You can tell by the stria direction, which stria was from the lower grit, by the direction.Regards,

Especially when your not experienced at "reading" the edge under magnification (like me). I found it helpful, especially at the lower grits (1-8k).
