I think that sort of phenomenon is likely due to a pile of pasted strop back in the day. Sometimes, a bit of a regrind will go a long way, esp as down near the bevel. JMO

Thanked: 4806 hours and i dont know how many feet of tape later, I have a nice looking razor. No way I was going to HONE the damned thing with so many layers of tape. I took it to 4 layers and honed to clean steel. Then I dropped it to a single layer of tape Honed through the grits to 8k. Up to 2 layers, wash rinse repeat... and ended at 3 layers, until I had a bevel set. If you look close you can see the 3 lines where the multiple areas meet.
Toe actually had more hone wear, so its a little wider there. A very frustrating evening. Things us insomniacs do to pass the time, I tell you.

I thought perhaps. They have always intrigued me. I like all things Lipshaw, whether useful or not!
Take this gargantuan autopsy knife? Great for slicing brisket!
OR this microtome blade with handle.....HAD to have it!

Nope! It is WAY too long and heavy and as I figured-out the angle with that removable spine slipped-on, it was double a straight razor! Without the spine on, it is a 'true wedge'!
Would be a dandy pepperoni slicer, I think!
