it really depends on who is using the 20K ive had several guys do a 12k edge and it was harsh, my hone guy uses the same stone and its smooth,, I use it and its smooth, as smooth as an natural ive had on my razors. I had the 20k, its smooth, but I do find that some razors start micro chipping at too high a grit, like the 30k shapton, I have one razor that takes it well the rest, meh it needs to go back some. stick with it Jerry, you just need to learn how to max out and refine the edge with the stone you have, just read Glens signature quote, it says it all. if your good with your stones I don't care which you have, synthetic or naturals, big name or bargain basement, if the stone is of razor quality you will get a great edge. its in the hands of the honer.

also I agree if your stropping is dead on, it should mellow the keenness a little and smooth it out. guys like Glen can use a brick and give you a decent edge. Tc
