Thanked: 2209I am late to this thread and cannot add much.
The penalty for breadknifeing a blade is TEDIUM!
That smiley so very aptly displays what we feel when an edge just will not get there! Lets do that again!
Ok, what I will emphasize has already been said. Take a plan of attack and stick with it. No jumping around amongst the hones. Do circles as Glen suggested or stay on the 1000 grit or stay on the 4000 grit using rolling X strokes, it does not matter, just stay with the plan.
Goals.... when your on a hone you have to have a testable goal in mind and achieve that goal before moving to another hone. No jumping around amongst the hones
In this case you goal is to develop an edge that cuts. The goal may be a TNT or arm hair test etc. but stay on that one hone until it passes that test. No jumping around amongst the hones

I'll stay on the 1000 grit
I'll take an hour tomorrow and the day after that and see where it goes.
PS. And I wont jump between razors

Using my theory that something was messed up with exactly the two razors that I first got hold of, I proceded in honing my second razor (the first one was that french frameback.great second shave). A Greaves 7/8-ish, almost wedge.
This will be tough.
It wasn't...
After 1.5 hours on the 220-1000-4000-8000-chinese this is what I got:
Shaves all the hair well, except the one on my face (I shaved prior to honing it so I had no stubble).
What do you think of the edge?
Need I say that I spent 2 more hours on the DA, there is some progress, getting sctickier, but man that's slow

picture is showing the bevel of the blade not the edge. Bevel looks great
wedges a little harder then hallow ground razor to sharpen.
