For me sharper and smoother, but this thread is about the Gokumyo so lets keep on track.

    Are we racing the stones?
I think this is not the correct question, because 20-30 laps is not slow at all as far as I am concerned.
What one needs to consider is how the stone works with different steels, and that is where the Gokumyio beats anything synthetic IMO.

Sounds like batch processing a number of razors on the Gokumyo would be much faster than Jnats & Nagura ?

You can go to the 20k from the 8k or you can throw the 12k or 16k in between if you like.

Others will use different stones perhaps. Experiment.

To be honest, I think on a properly honed and finished razor, a double blind test would have almost random distribution of results vs stone. At that level you're arguing about which car is fastest: a ferrari or a maserati. Sure, there is a theoretical difference in speed, but if you see them zooming past one at a time, you won't be able to say which one was faster.

    Exactly.
That was the reason I got it in the first place.

Most any 8-12k stone works great on the Gokumyo.
I tend to favor the 10K Chosera as the pre-polisher.
