Wow. Crazy price on that. Does it leave a harsh feeling at all?

    Rick,
That is what I like about the stone, It leaves a buttery smooth feel to the edge, virtually no chipping. It feels like a very hard stone but cuts rapidly more like a soft stone.
If you ever get the chance to try one out, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Rick, Did I ever lie to you? Get one. If you don't like it, I will let you throw it at me.

The price is far from crazy, even less so when you experience the edge it produces.

after the naniwa 12k i use strop linen and after lether,i have a great result....so you got me a great curiosity
i have seen that the hone have grain 0.5um ,....would not be more convenient to use a paste (0.5) at this point?
Paste will work differently than the hone.
Yes there is difference from 12k edge, as in if you really really want a smooth edge, usually you have to strop on paste after 12k , not after the Gokumyo.

The price seems about the same as a 30k GS & users are reporting a far easier time getting smooth edges with it (the 20k). The Gokumyo is also far cheaper than a Maruichi branded (to say nothing of Maruka) Nakayama razor hone & is of proven fineness. Not saying it would replace a razor-quality Jnat, but I imagine it'd be fun to try.

God knows I don't need any other hone, but I've been reading good things about this stone. Can anybody tell me how does its smoothness and sharpness compare with the smoothness and sharpness from a yellow green Escher? Thanks in advance. Double O

I have never found any difference between the edge from Y/G and any of the other color grades of Eschers. That being said, for me the Gokumyio compares to a very high quality Jnat, only it cuts faster compared.

And how would you describe a high quality Jnat edge on your face, compared to an Escher? Thanks! Double O
