The build, materials used, workmanship, grind, tolerances and honing/polish of their blades are all in the upper tier as far as production/mid-tech knives go.
My CHI is made from ZDP-189, and hardened to 66,7 HRC!
They also use YXR7 steel.
Both steels are made by Hitachi.
And no, remarkably enough, it is not a very chippy steel at all.
There is a lot of hype and mumbo-jumbo out there regarding this maker.
The crux of it is simple enough though, they are mighty fine knives and comes with a hefty price-tag.Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

If it makes you feel any better, owning it would not have made you feel different because after a day or 2 you'd find something new to drool over and you'd feel as lacking as now, but with a couple hundred euros less in your pocket. So you should be happy, because now you're still as happy as if you owned it, but with more money left

It's not so much that I 'can't' afford it. It's just that this is 'just another knife'. So if you already have a good pocket knife (or several high end knives as is the case of many here) I was wondering what the extra thing was why you should buy this one on top of the other ones.

As Sir Edmund Hillary replied when asked why he climbed Mount Everest ....... "Because it was there."
Years ago I was lamenting the fact that I had tobacco pipe acquisition disorder to a noted collector of same. Sort of a 'stop me before I buy again' type thing. He said "it's a disease" without batting an eye. This from a guy with probably 800 pipes, and a trail lawyer to boot. The guy in 1977 who told me 'if you can't be satisfied with what you have, you'll never be satisfied with what you get' was spot on.
The ADs may change but they don't go away easily. If it ain't one thing, it's another. Blessed are those who are not so afflicted.

Well no. The one about water is not going to save you hundreds of euros. The one about the knife does.
And my conclusion was that you'll feel the same and have more money left so you should feel even better for not owning it. That's some deep 'zen' thinking
Anyway, it just started with me wondering about whether there was anything special or noteworthy about this knife that would set it apart from the others, like materials, functionality or whatever.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
