I have posted these before, both are carried with me each day. The Blur (a 1K edge)is for anything needed & the Opinel (a 4K edge)is only for cutting my food, meat mainly,

Sometimes I carry this one;

During the work week I have a Leatherman wave on my belt and a folding utility knife in my pocket. I work with cardbord, so its nice to just pop the blade out and replace. After work I carry a Beretta Airlite, that I have had for ever. Best knife ever and rarely sets off metal detectors.

Few things beat a Leatherman when you need one. Great company too.

For those of you who haven't yet seen it, this is the lansky world legal knife. I've shown it in hand to let you judge the size.

While this does in fact meet the criteria to be legal here in the UK (non locking, blade under 3 inch) the sheer heft and look of this knife puts me off carrying it as an EDC.

On the plus side for this knife though, it's got some weight behind it, it has a good comfortable set of scales, they wouldn't feel small on a little kitchen knife, so comfortable to handle and use with purpose, and the blade is rather thick for a 3 inch folder.

Whilst I won't EDC this knife, it'll definitely find its way into my cargos when I'm out hill walking and maybe even in the garden.

I usually carry 2 Victorinox Spartan, since 1973, and a Cold Steel Spyke. One almost never leaves the sheath, the other is used daily.

That fixed blade in the bottom of the pic is sweet looking.

I'll carry it for a while and determine if this is "the one" I'll carry for the next few years. If not - and a small knife is what's needed, I would be very tempted to buy another Extrema Ratio after just owning this one for a short as I have. I can't express enough how well built this thing feels .

I thought I would update quickly because these knifes aren't that well known Stateside, and it's hard to pull the trigger on a knife that's so expensive with little info to go on.

It's been two weeks and I like it more today than I did the day I got it. One of my concerns was that this was a 4oz knife and I would "feel" it in my pocket. That has not been the case. The weight is distributed over its length and it somehow feels lighter.

As a matter a fact - on paper I would never have thought I could wear this with slacks. But I have been wearing a suit here lately, and not only is it fine, it's actually more comfortable resting in my slacks pocket than in my denim.


Speaking of its size, it's a real pleasure having a "full sized" knife as an edc. With the tip being what it is, you can just about accomplish any task you set before it without issue. The size of course does present some problems though - in that one doesn't just "whip out" this knife and offer to help with buddy's hang-nail lol. You have to be somewhat judicious. I mean, I haven't ever really feared freaking out anyone with a my staple of 2.5" blades - but this blade you would be well served to not pretend that it's "just another knife." People who know me however, know my love for knives and so long as I open the knife slowly, I haven't had anyone freak - YMMV.

Like I said, with its nicely pointed tip and long blade, there is little the blade can't do in the edc & kitchen setting. I would feel comfortable using it as my mainstay on a camping trip were I to have an axe.

It's not as smooth as a Benchmade. It's not as ergonomic as a Spyderco. But the sum of it's parts has me enjoying it more than both brands. I absolutely love the huge pivot and the fact that you can use a butter knife to adjust the tension. I guess that's all to say I am really liking it.

Will this be the edc to carry me through the next couple of years? It certainly could be. And if I was strapped for cash, it certainly would be. As it stands however, I am not strapped for cash, and the company's Medium series is just begging me to give it a shot (this knife is considered their light series but I am convinced it is as tough as any of my Benchmade's or Spiderco - maybe tougher). I think I might just "have" to pick up one of these to try on! (see below)

You mentioned it's a Talon, what model number is it and do you think it you could have it shipped to Canada and carry it here? Seems it under 6"...what do you think?
