Thread: Combat Knives?

The Ka bar is my edc carry now (I had to redo the wrap last week with about half as much paracord as I needed so it'll be redone soon). The 1911 will be added as soon as I get my licensee.

I've been eyeing one of these for a while now: Pocket Bushman : Cold Steel Folding Knives / Pocket Knives
I saw one at a gun show last year for $20 and I'm kicking myself for not picking it up. The lock mechanism on this thing is beastly.
I keep a Mora Knife and an Arkan-Saw in my car at all times (along with a few wrenches, mylar blanket, jumper cables, cable ties, para cord, meal rejected by Ethiopian, etc). This seems like it might make for a decent replacement for the Mora knife or at least for a good rough use knife for camping and yard work.

Or, depending on your state's knife laws, you might look at the redesigned Cold Steel Voyager XL - awesome knife for whatever, and great value for the money (paid about $50 each for my two, seen it as low as $43 shipped). Well, it's not really a knife - more like a pocket sword! I keep one in the car kit, one on my person (where permitted by law...).

I carried a Cold Steel SRK in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as in the woods here in the States. A real nice all around knife that can take a beating. Wouldn't let me carry the khukuri that I really wanted to take.

I’ve carried a cold steel before in Iraq and really didn’t care for it. I felt like the blade was cheap and it really couldn’t hold its edge. I use a Spyderco police model as my everyday knife and the old good fashion USMC Ka-Bar when I leave outside the wire. There is a reason why that knife hasn’t changed since WWII, it is by far the best fighting/all around knife out there. It does everything from opening cans of tuna to helping dig a fighting hole. I wonder if am able to get it sharp enough to shave with..........

I've never been in combat; I was stuck in the rear with the gear( electronic tech); with that said, if I had to go into the field, I would take the Ka Bar.
Easy to keep sharp, strong & a good length, solid grip.
I learned about the RAT 7 about 5 years ago; I would take it too.
The khukri I have would be nice for a bush covered area, I guess; never really been in one of those either. I would probably wrap the handle though. I bought this one for $20.00 at a gun show about 4 years ago.
