Nice BM. Loving the scales. People aren't selling or trading these babies very often. They seem to find permanent homes. So in the meantime I make due with my good ol' BK9. But it ain't even the same ballpark.
!! Enjoy the exquisite taste sharpening sharpening taste exquisite smooth. Please taste the taste enough to ride cutlery.

Actually, my next custom shop order will be for a tricked out Rodent Solution. I FREAKIN' LOVE those little guys. I have one in black/black paper like the one below (it may be the one below...), nothin' fancy, just a little worker. But I love the handle and ergos on it, and would love to have a tricked out little custom. My all time favorite camp/utility knife those little RS's...

Here's a pair of Busse knives I've bought recently.
Somewhat different in size, but siblings nonetheless
The big one is a ASHBM, the small one a Anniversary Mean street.
Sheath on the big one is a lovely dangler from Chuddybear, the smaller is a crappy kydex thingy.
It will be tossed out in exchange for a nice Randall type leather sheath.

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

I have always been a huge proponent of "Old School" when it comes to functional knives. For sure, many of what I think of as "Bling Blades" do in fact work well in the real world. Unfortunately a large consortium of cutlery companies have found a big market for any knives with a "Rambo" vibe. Color it black, put some saw teeth on it, etch some ominous para-militaristic graphic on it somewhere ("Molon Labe" has become very popular of late)...voila'. Hot new knife. I have no particular issue with that...it's not my knife.
The Finnish Ranger knife earlier posted is my idea of a near-perfect blade-combat, survival, sporting...it seems to touch all the bases.
Although I own a number of knives, my choice for a "combat' knife would be this.....
Attachment 174707
Randall Model 15. Non standard handle (no finger grooves..I don't like finger grooves). This blade has withstood the test of time and will be handed down to my Grandson so he can still put it to work.
Another less-severe example(s) but fully functional and classic knives are
The timeless Grohmann (Russell) Canadian Belt knife
...and the larger, Grohmann Survival knife, maybe the best knife for the money I have EVER used
Grohmann knives reflect the essence of the Canadian outdoors. Plain, durable, totally functional. And as far as "style", a Grohmann (Russell) Belt knife is on display at the NY Museum of Modern Art. To quote Mick Dundee, "Now that's a knife!".Last edited by Phoenix51; 07-31-2014 at 05:42 PM.

Thanked: 983Mick Dundee's pocketknife is bigger than that! I've posted it before, but this is my favourite knife. I made it myself some years ago now...And it would be more to Dundee's tastes...
And my 8.5in blade compared to one with an 11.25" blade gifted to me by my Mate and student of knife-making. Sorry about the poor quality photo. I took these sometime back just as a quick record.
Neither are strictly combat knives, but could be put to use as such if it came down to it. I made mine as an all around camp knife. My mate made the other one the way he did, because he knows what he considers to be a short sword, I think of as a decent sized knife.

Thanked: 1160This looks promising/deadly...... dare I say it but, no matter how you slice it, hand to hand is not pretty ever....imagine what it must've been like to be right smack in the heat of an ancient battle with multitudes of weapons meant for hacking, stabbing, cutting, slicing dicing and , "that's right folks,it even makes julienne fries !! "
