His reading may be more dramatic but I believe, in all cases, an actor impart with an artificial skin. A poet, or painter, or whatever the creative art, their rendition will always contain the original spark of intent. Case in point. Jackson Pollack is credited with an advancement in art with his "dribble" painting. Many people have copied his style but were never good at it because they saw the technique, not the creative spark that drove him to produce what he did. Un rant.
There's much to agree with within your observation Razorfeld, and especially regarding the Artist themselves, and poem Do not go gentle into that good night as we know speaks of his Fathers battle with cancer while on his deathbed.

No, the breakfast, and pipe threads are longer. You can see where straight shavers priorities lie.

I think we are almost a club, or even sub-culture, the straight shavers who ramble. What would be really cool would be if we all met up in wales, or Yorkshire, and rambled while we rambled.

Oh and there are a few threads, one about boots and one about jackets that Carl started that are fairly epic, though they have run their course now I think.

Celticcrusader, you have found one of the truths of creativity. There is little argument in my mind as to where the spark of creativity comes from. Very few works of any form of art comes from, "I feel so good and happy today that I'm going to create a masterpiece". Unhappiness, alcoholism, drug use, turmoil in your life, stress, sorrow and even mental illness. I started my creative life as a painter. Was never that good to get much acclaim. Use my art skills for more pedestrian work. But, there were a painting or two that I know struck home by the way some people were affected by them. Drugs and alcohol were not my driving force (one drink and I'm sitting in the corner. Sorrow and stress gave me impetus for successful works. I am not a poet but from a divorce I wrote poems for a year and a half about love, marriage and what friends gave me. I stopped when I realized I had finally come to terms of that event. If you dig deep enough you will always find the negative as the spark. It kindles the need to turn it into a positive. Isn't human nature totally fascinating?

Ed, then we must make it a point to keep this thread well fed, with out smoke screen. If it ever gets to the point where we all can afford and get to Wales for The Rambling would you be kind enough to push my wheelchair? I'll probably be THAT old by then.

I would be more than happy to, but you will need to deal with the nappies yourself. .

Happiness doesn't tend to provide good fuel for introspection. To create I think this helps. Not that I am a creator, but when I am happy I don't want to spend time by myself making things etc. When I am sad or down I do, well moreso anyway.
Have you had any strop inspiration yet? (you will find, if you haven't already, that I am shocking for both crossthreading, and off topicing)

It's a deal. But now I have to go have breakfast, I'm starving and then deal with a long list of chores and tasks for the day. There is a life outside of the infectious thread. Back by late afternoon. By the way Ed, its 6:19AM PST, Monday. Yeah I know your a day ahead and about even with me on a dollar short. See ya!
