Best plan I've ever had, the markets were practically deserted when normally you can barely move.
I had a great day with the missus, mulled ciders, German lagers, bratwurst, roast hog and as much cheese, salami and tapenade as I could carry home.
I was a little bit nervous having to walk through the protest, me and the wife couldn't even refer to each other by our first names because it would give us away. But eventually we made it out the other side.

So did you pick cool code names instead, such as sonny and cher?

Well done Kev, those Unionists are a bunch of the worst kind of people imaginable, I would hate to live anywhere near them, they keep banging on about being British when the reality of it even the Welsh and Scottish who live on the UK mainland don't even class themselves as British, raving bonkers everyone of them.

She called me Billy and I called her Lizzy. The irony being that my wife is actually a Protestant from Scotland but her parents named her Aileen which over here would be a catholic name.
Mad I know! But bare in mind this is a place where they can tell your religion by the way you pronounce the letter H! Lol

    More British than the British.
The daft thing is that the removal of the flag 24/7 and only flying it on designated days actually brings our policy in line with all other UK cities

I don't really know what to say, I wish everyone could just get along, having to use false names is plain ridiculous, it's good that none of them are members here, otherwise your disguise would have been blown.
I still remember when the news couldn't use Gerry adams voice for some reason, so they would show him giving his speach, and over dub a different Irishman speaking (obviously speaking the words very adams was saying, nkt one of those who's line is it anyway comedy redub sketches).
I am sick of all the conflict and fighting in the world.

Don't get me wrong things may be far from perfect here but they are a thousand times better than what I grew up with.
My wife once asked me and a friend what the worst thing about growing up in Northern Ireland was and we both agreed it was our desensitising to violence. I got up every morning and ate my breakfast before school whilst watching a news report about a bombed bar or car riddled with holes or a body lying on waste ground covered with a sheet.
I remember being in Scotland when there was a terrorist attack on Glasgow airport and the whole pub I was in stopping to watch the news and I remember thinking that it would've barely made the news in NI when I was young.

If I was there I would have sung out to ya...HEY KEVIN...How would I have faired with the HEY MICK! HOW THE HELL ARE YA? in reply do ya think?!

On a more serious note. I remember getting training on the use of rubber bullets to quell rioting etc. in the Army, and the examples used and original trials and testing were all from Ireland. The trainer was a British bloke. A specialist. Needless to say, what we were trained to do, and how we were trained to do it would hardly be called fighting fair.

Actually Michael/Mick is a name common to both sides so you'd be safe enough.
That said though you'd probably get a beating for being friends with a fenian! Lol
Yeah the rubber bullets are supposed to be none lethal but the Army/Police quickly learned that if you fire them at face level at close range they can be pretty lethal
