Question for the group.
If I switch back to using a shavette does that mean I lose man points?
I've found myself using it more and more the past week. I just can't seem to get a consistent finish with my straight. I think this is down to my stropping as the finish has been getting worse. (Sorry to Jamie for ruining his good honing work)
But I'm now seriously considering buying a good quality shavette.

No, if you want to use a Shavette you go for it, why not get your straight touched up and use it from time, a shavette and disposable blades would probably take.a long time to be more expensive than a straight and a selection of hones to keep it sharp.
Ukulele something or other has some.really nice ones in the shave of the day quite often.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Thanked: 1160Kev....I am a lousy honer. so in my downtimes when my straights are not in use, I have found a DE very affordable and pleasurable to use. Just my two cents, but I would go DE before shavette. Edwin Jagger being one of the brands that offer a low budg DE that's quality. If your set on the shavette,go for it but, if you want to learn more about DE's PM me. Cheers

Thanked: 983I'm with Steph on the DE's, but take that with the proverbial salt. I've never tried a 'Shavette' style razor and my only experience with one was a barber shave. She used a Derby blade, and I can't abide Derby's. As soon as she commenced the first stroke I knew it was a Derby and double checked by asking.
