I guess it's easy to have a deadly weapon in every room when you are military trained and can probably kill someone with a rolled up newspaper

My EDC stays at my side (Springfield XD) 3 shotguns are accessible through the house (bedroom and both coat closets).
Keep two torches (flashlights) handy 200 lumens is the small tactical light. I also keep a spare tire in my car, smoke detectors working and fire extinguishers in working order.
I would prefer to be prepared so I don't have to be paranoid.
A healthy fear/respect is a good thing in my opinion.

We are from two very different countries in regards to gun control.
But then we are from two very different countries in regards to violent crime.

Ok, I'm running a bit behind here, i ended up with the door side because I used to get up first, and I generally sleep facing the door which is right next to my head pretty much.
With regards to reverse parking it is also much safer to reverse into a space than reversing the back of your car out into traffic.

I think that's how I ended up with the door side originally myself.
Actually to be honest I work nightshift these days so only share a bed with my wife 3 nights a week. The rest of the time I have the whole bed to myself and I just spread out!
