Thanked: 983Never understood the fear of inanimate objects like guns and knives, but I'm one that likes and respects them too. As for facing the door at the pub/restaurant etc. I call that a healthy sense of survival. Just a little bit of paranoia is a good thing.
Again, I call that a sense of survival and good security. I park for fast escapes as well. I spent years doing it while working in the security industry.
Another security thing there, but my wife actually chooses the side nearest the door, so she doesn't trip over anything when she gets up to pee in the middle of the night. Me. I have three swords, a Nulla Nulla and a self crafted Shillelagh beside the bed, so that I can fight my way to the real arsenal in my wardrobe .

I keep my trusty Hurley stick beside the bed but to be honest the crime rate in my village is pretty much zero. Any unscrupulous characters come into the village, we take care of it ourselves. We learned to be self sufficient during the bad days, no point waiting on the police doing anything

Thanked: 983Well, we have an average crime rate around my area, but to date, have not been personally effected by it. However, I feel it pays to err on the side of caution. There is not a room in the house, aside from the kids rooms, that I don't have access to...something an intruder might regret. And I have the all important mindset and willingness to use said something's if needs be.
