Newbie from Melbourne VIC Australia
G'day guys, just happened to stumble across this forum a week ago whilst trying to suss out info on my very first SR purchase. I'm currently awaiting on a Ralf Aust 5/8 full hollow round point and a 3" stropping paddle from SRD. I'm a little apprehensive going to a SR from years of shaving with a DE slant bar razor but excited at the same time. Kudos to the creators of this forum and to each and every one of you for your time, effort and passion in not only assisting your fellow brethren but in keeping the art of SR shaving alive. I look forward to driving you nuts with stupid questions Hehe.
Cheers!
Kon

Welcome to the 'Place'
Too late 'driving us nuts' . It already happened years ago for me at least. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Hi Kon,
if you've been on a slant bar you'll be used to a challenging razor; this will stand you in good stead when it comes to driving a straight. Those DEs cut close but you'll find your first SR shaves a bit rough in comparison! After a few months with the straight you won't know yourself.
Ask questions here, we're ready to answer!

Good morning and thank you all for the warm welcome ... I'm hoping not to end up looking like Norman Gunston "the little Aussie bleeder" hehehe.
Cheers!
